A whole host of talented and popular bands from the Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham areas have been lined up to perform at this year’s FamilyFest extravaganza, which is bringing a jam-packed weekend of live music, entertainment and activities to the West Midlands.

The hugely popular charity event is back for 2016 and will be even bigger and better, having been extended to a two-day bonanza, with the addition of a family-friendly music festival on Saturday August 20, ahead of wall-to-wall fun for all ages on Sunday August 21.

A variety of popular local bands and artists will be performing across the two-day event at Buzzards Valley Vineyard in Drayton Bassett and this year they share the bill with former Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Andy Bennett, who will be performing a special acoustic set on the Saturday.

Other acts taking to the stage at the Saturday BuzzStock include Kia and Mike Gates, Helen Pearson, English Jones, Alex Sumner, Quad Rox, The Interpreters and The Mighty Boing.

Sunday’s performers include Lydia Borg, Kia and Mike Gates, The Vintage Class Singers, Tamworth based Four Legs Good and gasfoodlodging.

Between them the artists cover a range of music styles and genres, promising perfect listening for a relaxed summer in the great outdoors.

Music is just one feature of the two-day event and there’s plenty more besides, including inflatables for young and old, face painting, Prosecco tent, food and drink and a range of child friendly entertainment.

Sunday’s event will be similar to last year’s FamilyFest with bouncy castles, bubble football, craft stalls, dance groups, pets corner, owls, scout groups, zorb balls, local interest groups, picnic area, Prosecco tent, plus many more games and activities taking place alongside more fantastic live music.

This year will also include a dog show, raft building by Scout groups, alpacas and a much wider variety of food.

Last year’s event raised £7,500 which was shared between Midlands Air Ambulance, Job Club and Our Place Community Hub and all proceeds will again be donated to the three charities.

FamilyFest ft BuzzStock is organised by a small group of local families and members of a business Breakfast Networking Group who meet at Buzzards Valley Vineyard. It initially started two years ago as an idea for a family picnic that soon snowballed into the mammoth charity fundraising extravaganza in 2015.

Last year’s inaugural event was full to capacity with 1,500 on site and many more having to be turned away at the gate, so people are advised to get their tickets booked well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Organiser Anthony Levelle, of Sutton Coldfield-based Search UK Ltd, said: “Last year’s event was amazing considering it initially started out as a family picnic, but this year we have really pulled out all the stops to create a full weekend of non-stop fun for the whole family.

“Despite doubling in size and having lots more entertainment on offer, our main priority is that it remains affordable to families and that all proceeds still go to charity. This is about families being able to enjoy a great weekend without spending a fortune. We have also worked hard with vendors to ensure prices on site are reasonable too.

“Many businesses have come together to support and sponsor this event and our thanks go to all of them. These include our main sponsor John Shepherd Estate Agents, Photobooth, Aston Wood Golf Club, Aspire Sports and Sweet Causes.”

Anthony, a keen fundraiser from Tamworth, added: “We would also like to thank the 3rd, 4th, 8th, 11th and 12th Sutton Coldfield Scout Groups, Trinity Explorer Scout Unit and Zeus Explorer Unit for agreeing to provide us with volunteers for this year’s event. They will also be having a stall on the Sunday and doing some water/raft based activities in one of the lakes.

“This was a really popular event last year and we had to turn people away on the day so we are advising people to get their tickets booked in advance to avoid disappointment this time.”
